The Gap Reunion 2025 was another standout event for the accounting community — well-organised, engaging and packed with fresh insights. Jackie Clark brought her trademark energy as MC, keeping the crowd both entertained and inspired throughout the day.
One of the presenters spoke about how our “craving for certainty” has increased over the last two decades. A simple example brought this to life: many of us knew exactly where we were going that morning, but still used Sat-Nav. Not because we needed directions to the conference — but because we wanted to know precisely what time we’d arrive at our chosen city parking, how long it would then take to walk to the venue and exactly what time we would then arrive at the venue.
This insight highlights how technology has shifted our behaviour. With real-time data always available, we’ve become accustomed to having exact information on demand. In many ways, this mirrors what clients increasingly want from their accountants and advisors: clear numbers, precise forecasts and reliable guidance. Just as Sat-Nav provides confidence in the journey, strong reporting and forecasting provide the certainty business owners need to make better decisions.
Highlights of the event included TV journalist Paddy Gower’s lively session, where he shared stories from his exceptional career and also deeply personal moments throughout his life. His perspective was both entertaining and relatable — many attendees, ourselves included, left with his book in hand.
Another standout was the panel of business owners, who openly shared what they valued in their accountants and where firms sometimes fell short. Their honesty offered fresh insight into how we, as advisors, can continue to improve and better serve our clients.
While we didn’t take home the Advisory Firm of the Year award this time, we’re truly thankful to have been nominated alongside so many other great firms. The nomination itself is a testament to the value of service we deliver to our clients every day — and we’re proud to be recognised for that.
